As we are getting ready for the 2012 Summer Swim and Dive Season, we would like to welcome you all to East Gate Swim and Dive.

Our Swim and Dive afternoon practice starts on May 29th.  Be sure that you are registered before you come to practice.  To register, you can click on the link below, print page two (Team Registration) and either mail it or bring it to the pool during our Open House on May 19.  Please make your check payable to East Gate Swim and Tennis Club.

We will be unable to allow any kids to practice with the team unless they are registered and the team dues are paid.

For those kids who would like to try diving for first time, there is an MCDL insurance cost of $10 that must be paid before your child is allowed on the diving boards during team activities. Please contact one of the dive reps 24 hours before practice to make arrangement.. Your child can come twice before you must register in full.

Also, we have a new team suit.  If your old suit still fits, no worries.  The new and the old suits are color coordinated so you can wear either.  The new suit is TYR Northern Lights in Blue/Green.  It is available at Aardvark.  Check it out on our website!

East Gate’s swim team program offers three different levels:  Mini-Gators; Pre-Team and Swim Team. Mini-Gators is for those energetic youngsters who haven’t quite mastered the art of holding their breath and putting their face in the water and making it from one side of the pool to the other. Taught by members and coaches of the Swim Team, Mini Gators works on the fundamentals of swimming instruction and prepares those swimmers for a fine future on the swim team. Pre-Team is for those swimmers who can make it across the pool unassisted, but need some help polishing up those tough butterfly and breast strokes that are required for swimming in the Saturday meets.  Once the kids make it through Mini-Gators and Pre-Team, it’s on to the Big Show — swimming on our Montgomery County Swim League team in the Saturday meets. No tryouts necessary — just join the team, come to practice and swim your fastest on Saturday morning — how cool is that?

Now, for those who prefer a little more elevation in their pool activity, the East Gate dive team is for you. Our dive team has been ranked one of the top teams in the county for as long as many of us can remember — and it’s little wonder, with the 2012 Maryland State High School boys and girls dive champs as members and coaches of the team! If your youngsters can get themselves up on to the boards, our dive coaches will get them into the water cleanly and gracefully — looking for that perfect 10. Our new head coach and assistant coaches will have the Gators flying, twisting and sticking their entries all over the dive well. Anyone can join the team, regardless of age (hold on there, Mom and Dad, not you), and you are welcome to compete at the Sunday evening dive meets.

Practices for swim and dive teams are staggered and offered in the afternoon and morning (starting in mid-June), so that if you can’t choose between swim or dive teams, you don’t have to!  Join both teams!  Check the website for practice times and costs. If you haven’t figured it out by now, team sign-up is easy — just do it on-line right here (even if you’ve already signed up for the pool but not the teams yet, you can take care of the teams online).  If you haven’t yet signed up for the pool membership, remember that your username is the primary e-mail address associated with your account, and your password has been re-set to gator.
